Intellectuals and political leaders paid attention to his fresh ideas and sometimes consulted him.Defoe was a prolific and versatile writer, producing more than three hundred worksbooks, pamphlets, and journals on diverse topics, including politics, crime, religion, marriage, psychology, and the supernatural.
